Cash is essential in many parts of Indonesia, especially on smaller islands and in traditional markets. You can use cards in most cities and tourist areas. It’s better to exchange money in the city than at the airport for a better rate.

The official currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Although some tourist spots might accept US dollars, using local currency is the best choice.
Indonesian money (IDR) has a lot of zeros. Take time to learn the difference between 1,000 and 10,000 – 2,000 and 20,000 – 5,000 and 50,000, and the highest note, which is 100,000 rupiah.

Internet is decent in cities and touristy areas. Get a local SIM (Telkomsel and XL) at the airport or in town for affordable data.

Once in Nusa Penida, your group will use private vehicles with a maximum of 5 people per car. If there are more than 5 people, the group will be divided into separate vehicles for comfort and convenience.
